Vietnam University of Commerce and University of Québec à Trois-Rivières, Canada implement a joint MBA program in VUC

Vietnam University of Commerce and University of Québec à Trois-Rivières, Canada (UQTR) are to implement the first course of a joint MBA program in January 2015 in VUC.

This statement is released today on the occasion of the visit by VUC’s delegation to UQTR. The two universities have signed cooperation agreement, through which officially implementing a joint MBA program on Business Management of SMEs in VUC.
Ms. Nadia Ghazzali, UQTR’s rector stressed that “the joint project helps to affirm UQTR’s prestige and success in the international arena. By implementation an MBA program in Vietnam, we will promote the enrolment of international students to post-graduate training programs, helping our lecturers to develop their research to the international scale as well as expanding our research network globally. This is our strategic orientation in 2015 – 2020 period”.
Under the cooperation agreement, UQTR will take main responsibility for the administration of the MBA program to be implemented in Hanoi. Lecturers from both universities will perform the teaching tasks. UQTR will pay working visit to Hanoi or use the Internet to deliver their lectures.
Mr. Sylvain Benoit, UQTR’s Head of International Cooperation and Enrolment said “to UQTR, Vietnam is an Asian country selected for sustainable cooperation and development. In this continent, the demand for post-graduation training programs remains high, so we will implement this MBA program in Hanoi. We expect to have further cooperation projects with VUC and grant scholarships to Vietnamese students, exchange students, lecturers and others in the fields of education and research.
VUC’s delegation included Mr. Dinh Van Son, Rector,  Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Vice Rector, Mr. Nguyen Hoang, Dean of International Training Department and Mr. Vu Manh Chien, Head of Scientific Administration and External Affairs. The two sides discussed new cooperation opportunities between two universities, especially in the fields of researching management science, training accounting or online courses. The cooperation agreement on the joint MBA program announced today between VUC and UQTR is the outcome of the cooperation started in May 2013 in Brazil at the General Assembly of Association of Universities of France (AUF)
A long-term cooperation
VUC is not UQTR’s first Vietnamese partner. Previously, the Canadian university has signed cooperation agreements on education and information science with other Vietnamese universities, including Can Tho University (1995 – 2014) and Vietnam National University (2006 – 2020). Besides, UQTR has received many students with scholarship and interns from Vietnam in the fields of education science and management science under the program of AUF. Two of UQTR’s lecturers, Ms. Jean-Marc Denommé and Ms. Madeleine Roy (now retired) were granted Gold Merits by Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training for their scientific contribtions to Vietnam education cause.
